Composition is one of the subtlest and trickiest aspects of photography to truly master, and there is a massive trove of guidelines, tips, and “rules” out there that can be hard to wade through. If you struggle with composing a compelling image, this excellent video will give you eight helpful tips to improve your work.
Coming to you from Jamie Windsor, this great video will give you eight tips to improve the compositions of your images. Of the tips, the one that has been the most salient for me and that has noticeably improved my edges has been learning to keep my edges clean. It can be very easy to focus on the center of your image, as of course, your subject is normally somewhere near it, often to the point of missing activity on the edge of the frame entirely. The problem is that if the edge of the frame is busy, it can draw the viewer’s eye away from your subject and out of the image entirely. Keeping the edges of the frame clear can often make your image much stronger and more compelling. Check out the video above for lots of helpful tips and examples from Windsor.
